      Trooth Be Told

The real. The raw. The reckoning.

Reverend Jesse Jackson did not enter history quietly. He was shaped by it — and in turn, helped shape it.

As a young man born in Greenville, South Carolina on October 8, 1941, Jesse Louis Jackson came of age in a segregated America. He knew what it meant to sit at the back of the bus. He understood the quiet humiliations of “separate but equal.” He witnessed doors closed not because of merit, but because of skin. Discrimination was part of daily life.

When the Civil Rights Movement called, he answered. He stood alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., organizing, marching, negotiating, and helping carry forward a movement that demanded dignity be made real. He believed faith required action and that justice required presence.

From the streets of Chicago to the global stage, he registered millions of voters, advocated for workers and the poor, pressed corporations to open opportunity, and insisted democracy must expand to include those long excluded. He founded Operation PUSH and the Rainbow Coalition, calling a divided nation toward solidarity across race, class, and creed — steadfast in his belief that America’s promise is realized only when its people rise together.

In his two historic presidential campaigns, he expanded imagination. He made visible what many had never seen reflected in power, reminding generations that the highest offices in the land were not forbidden ground.

Leadership came with scrutiny. Progress demanded resilience. Still, he remained resolute in his belief that justice is not self-executing. It must be pursued, protected, and practiced.

For more than sixty years, he refused to stand still.

After a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy, Reverend Jesse Jackson was called home today, February 17, 2026.

His life was marked by discipline, faith, moral courage, and a relentless belief in human dignity. We inherit the ground he broke — and the work still unfinished.

Our deepest condolences to the Jackson family and to all whose lives were shaped by his conviction and courage.

May he rest in power & eternal peace 🖤🕊️✊🏾 #troora #trooramagazine #revjessejackson #rainbowcoalition

In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist. We must be anti-racist.
— Angela Davis

On this day, Friday, February 6, 2026, we are reminded once again that racism is very much alive in the United States of America.

When anyone, specially current leadership uses imagery rooted in dehumanization, when racism is dismissed as “just a meme,” and when history’s ugliest tropes are repackaged as humor or power fantasies, it is not accidental. It is intentional. It is used both as distraction and as a blatant display of racism. And it is unacceptable and dangerous.

Michelle and Barack Obama, the first Black First Family, represent dignity, restraint, intellect, and service in the face of relentless hatred. Those who engage in bigotry and racism will never possess what the Obamas embody: respect, dignity, grace, intellect, honesty, elegance, beauty, and global admiration. That is the true power this administration, their leadership and supporters seek, but will never attain.

When asked by @emmagrede whether “when they go low, we go high” still holds, @michelleobama did not abandon the principle. She clarified it. Growth requires wisdom. Resistance requires strategy. Justice requires courage.

At TrooRa, we believe culture is not neutral.
Media is not neutral.
Silence is not neutral, it is complicity!

Going high does not mean looking away.
It means seeing clearly.
Naming what you see with honesty.
And choosing to stand on the side of humanity anyway.

TrooRa Magazine & Media Founder @editor_in_t Trystanne Cunningham believes that anti-racism is a responsibility and the only way we use this moment to abolish racism and white supremacy once and for all is by using our collective consciousness as an opportunity for continued unity and to always use love to bring light to this darkness with joy and light.
